Dear Body,
When you and I committed to this journey back in December it was the absolute most important decision we’ve ever made together. Absolute most important. Remember how we used to laugh and joke about “oh it’s going to take forever to lose weight” and we would swear under our breath as we took the stairs that first week thinking “this is never going to be worth it”.
Oh and let’s not forget all the times we wanted to shove crap food in our pie hole but instead reached for water and fruit while chanting to ourselves “The stomach doesn’t care what it eats, it just wants to digest. It’s the brain that wants to eat (insert food) and it will learn to love (insert food) instead”. Remember all the epic battles we shared as we pulled each other out of bed to go running before the sun came up because we were too embarrassed that we couldn’t run a minute without stopping and puking. Oh oh oh and remember all the crying we did on the elliptical that first month…classic!
When we started this journey, our BMI count was 40. The first number on the chart that labeled us morbidly obese…MORBID. That means death! You and I let it get so bad that we could have died from our weight. But we changed that didn’t we? We put our head down and fought like banshees everyday to make it through.
We never gave up.
We have a new label today Body, can you believe it? “Marginally overweight”!!! Our BMI is 27! We are far from Morbidly Obese. We stepped over that starting line and said “We are going to finish this and finish it together”. We also have a new category, 170 – 179. Who knew in less than 9 months we’d rectify almost 25 years of unhealthy living!
We are now 8 pounds from our first goal weight of 170 and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner!
I love you.
Love,
Tara

Wow! “Marginally overweight”! That is freaking amazing. I hope you are feeling pleased and proud and just plain over the moon.
Woooottt! I am SO excited for you! You’re just kicking this LCJ’s ass (in a good way, of course). Keep up the AMAZING work. I can’t wait to watch the next phase of this LCJ for you – the post-goal transformation that is sure to occur.
This totally deserves a happy dance…
Awesome job Tara. You are very inspiring. So very happy for you!
T – I’m seriously psyched for you – what a fantastic week. Between you and that hot bod of your rocking in the gym and on the scale and the job stuff all lining up right after your vacation! Amazing awesomeness! So thrilled for you!
What’s the next goal marker for you when you hit 170? You must be into those size 12 pants already?
I loved this post! You freaking rock star!
ROCK ON Tara! It looks like we’re both at about the same spot for reaching our initial goal weights – as of this morning, I’m 8.8 pounds from goal!
You totally blow me away! This is the best blog post I think I’ve ever read anywhere. So happy for you!
I never cease to amaze. I love you so much!
That is supposed to say YOU never cease to amaze. I find myself somewhat underwhelming most days. lol
Love this post SO MUCH. GO YOU!
Truly Amazing. SO so so happy for you. You are my favoritest Loser ever. Well except for Me. Heh. Hugs!!!!
Bravo, you! Well deserved and hard earned.
You inspire me!
You are awesome. 🙂 And I LOVE that mantra! I’m so going to start using that one myself. My stomach DOESN’T care what it eats… stupid brain.
“The stomach doesn’t care what it eats, it just wants to digest. It’s the brain that wants to eat (insert food) and it will learn to love (insert food) instead”
Wow, that’s going on my fridge aka my inspiration wall. So true and good to keep in mind. Keep up the great work.
“Pie hole” – now that is classic and had me LMFAO!!!! 🙂
You are doing fantastic and winning all of the battles. WTG girl! 🙂
HUGE congratulations!!! As I said the other day on Twitter when I saw your avatar, you’re looking downright thin!
And I love this: “The stomach doesn’t care what it eats, it just wants to digest. It’s the brain that wants to eat (insert food) and it will learn to love (insert food) instead”. Geneen Roth talked about this at the Women Food & God retreat I went to this past weekend.
What a terrific victory! Congratulations!!!
[…] read that this weekend in this post from 263 and counting and it really stuck with me. So much that I’m still thinking about it […]
